Since 2017, the partnership between Housing First Minnesota and Lennar Minnesota, has constructed over a 20,000 square feet of housing for Minnesota Veterans. Through this partnership, we built dignified quality housing for local nonprofits and Veterans at a fraction of the cost. Together we can all strive to do our part to tackle homelessness in Minnesota.
“This is our newest transitional home for Veterans. This home would be used for Veterans who are leaving homelessness and need a safe, furnished, and dignified place where they can stay and begun the rebuilding process of acquiring and maintaining permanent housing. This home is where Veterans can have that brief respite from the chaos of being homeless and work with our case managers at MACV to focus on their housing plan.” David Nguyen
What makes this project so special is not only will this beautiful home serve Veterans but also in the backyard is an accessory dwelling unit (ADU), adding another option for Veterans on their journey to independent housing. This home and a nearby home on Irving Avenue are the sixth and seventh collaborative build projects between the Housing First Minnesota Foundation, building partner Lennar Minnesota, and Minnesota Assistant Counsel for Veterans (MACV) as our service partner.
We’re not only here to celebrate the completion of the sixth and the seventh home that we’ve have constructed for MACV,” said Bill Burgess, “but also to promote the groundbreaking of the 44 homes and four ADUs use that we’ll be building this year in North Minneapolis and 2022.”
“Thank you to the great Lennar Minnesota team, specifically the ones that are doing the work on the ground. You know, I’ve said this before, so I have to say it again. We’re just the really the very fortunate beneficiaries of this great partnership. I’m we feel so blessed for everything that’s come before but also for everything that is about to come.” Neal Loidolt
